Intuitive hand poke tattoo

Chamomile's fascination with tattoos transformed rapidly after receiving her first tattoo in 2015. When asked, "Why do  you like tattoos?," she was always fascinated by the stories accompanying unique art works. The body is a blank canvas and one day it will deteriorate, so decorate it while you can.

Through her anthropologic studies and during her travels to Southeast Asia 2018-2019, Chamomile discovered some traditional uses for tattoos, such as marking the transition from boy to man or even a symbol of crime and punishment.

When she learned the hand poke process in India in 2019, she wasn't fulfilled by the random placements and designs her clients would ask her for. Although she respects the journey of each individual, she didn't want to contribute to the unconscious decisions that seemed to hold no value.

Chamomile began to learn about intuitive tattooing and now applies her tarot readings to determine the "energy" entering and exiting the tattoo wound. Each tattoo will symbolize this transformative moment in the individual's life, acting as a road marker.

Chamomile also creates intuitive designs based on the reading if the client is unsure of an image they want at the time.

THE SUN

Weighing out your choices can be hard, considering everything from your security to your family's well-being. But sometimes you have to let go of things weighing you down, and as the scale teeters into perfect balance, things become clear. Now, you are the sunshine. You possess the ability to nurture your grandest dreams by providing sunlight and positivity.

SEEN AS EVIL

In the past, people saw you as someone who is sneaky, a con-artist, despite your efforts to prove differently. Moving through this stage of transformation, you enter a new period: The Sun. Suddenly people look to you for the light. All along, you possessed the wings to fly.

GRATITUDE

Sometimes, with everything going on in the day-to-day, we forget how fortunate we are. This tattoo marks as a reminder that you hold the seed of fruition, of abundance. You must perceiver through the hard times, nurtuting all your projects and Self, in order to see that seed come to fruition.

Palm Tree

Are you a beach person or a mountain person? We all have these significant calls to specific traits in nature. Some of us never ask, "Why?" Some of us understand the connection is rooted deeply

Balanced

Masculine vs. Feminine. Yin & Yang. Yin being calm, cool, relaxed. Yang being energetic, momentum, fire. This tattoo brings the masculine (sun) and feminine (moon) energies into balance to mark a transition from yin (too relaxed and unmotivated) closer to yang.

Sprouting

Roots grow in the dark, a stem rises in the light, a flower blooms into abundance. This calf tattoo will forever mark a transformation into knowing your worth and nurturing that seed in order to enjoy the abundance of your efforts.

honey bee

Bees symbolize hard work, team efforts, sacrifice and community. Externally we must unite and understand all that is, is actually one. Internally, we must be willing to sarifice and dedicate our lives to the things which move us forward, those which make us happy.

Extraterrestrial

Everything revolves around the sun, just like everything revolves around you, around me. Through this vessel we create a reality based on the way we perceive and understand it.

Emotional

If water transports messages throughout our body and our bodies are about 70% water, and if the moon's gravitational pull heavily influences water, then we can understand that our emotions, like the tides, are also influenced by the moon. For someone who is  experiencing blockages in relationships, specifically around emotion, it can be expansive to connect with the water element and our intuition. During the full moon, light is casted on our darkness, and we can see clearly what it is we've been neglecting.

THE GECKO

In Kerala, southern part of India, there is a proverb about geckos being the Truth keepers. Eavesdroppers, when they do their gecko cry, it means whatever you are saying is in fact the Truth. The puzzle piece signifies "connecting with the Truth." The lizards tail fades into a DNA spiral, signifying we are made from Truth.

Happy Moon

I originally drew this face for a coffee shop in Georgetown, Malaysia in mandala form, a symbol to "smile at everything." On a sleeve of faces, this face brought a contrast to the robotic and "darker" faces (phases). She acts as a reminder to smile at everything in the face of turmoil, for life is nothing but a test, a game, a joke.

Beach Boys

Along the coastline of Kerala, India, one can see the geometry of various plant species. Being born and raised on the waters, it's important to remember where you came from. I felt the softness of the floral design also captured the softness of the client, so he may never forget this side of himself.

Vishuddha

The first tattoo is always a bit scary, especially considering the pressure of family and friends; however, tattoos, like communication, are a great way for self-expression. This throat chakra is reining in the energy to express oneself to the outmost.

Blood brothers

Everyone has that friend they would die for. This individual happens to have a whole gang of brothers who would die for him and vice versa. Three of those brothers came to me requesting the same tattoo to always connect them despite their long-distance travels and separating paths. One doesn't need to physically see a friend to know they are there; the connection runs much deeper than the physical.
